Nothing Days

Hold on so I can catch my breath...we have had a busy April!

Do you ever calendar "nothing days" on the weekend so you can plan on doing...nothing? We do. That's the only way we can catch up on family stuff and house projects.

I highly recommend choosing one day a month to do "nothing" and commit to it--don't plan play dates or RSVP to birthday parties...instead enjoy the family you are creating in all this hussle and bustle.

Of course I don't listen to my own advice and last weekend's ND was taken over by an open house...we agreed at the last minute to our third in 25 days. Let me tell you that keeping a 3,100 sf house tidy with two littles is challenging as we have had showings daily...and sometimes with only 20 minutes notice. 😳

So we had a family date to the Children's Museum and used our new membership to enjoy the crafts, music, play areas, paint, chalk, bubbles, chickens, books, and more!

And now that it's May tomorrow, I'm going to pencil a new ND on the calendar so I can really catch my breath.

How do you spend your weekends? Are they crazy busy with events, chores, errands, or...?

PS the beginning of our ND was watching Sierra finish the LJ Half. Go Daddy!!

Summer...I mean Spring!

Feels like summer--yesterday it was 90 degrees! It's Spring Break for Jackson which means things are a little more relaxed around here--no school schedule to follow.

The kids started swim lessons last week, three times a week...all month. Riley said she was "scared of Scott!" the instructor and refused to participate. She sat on the opposite end of the pool and splashed. We will put her in when a female instructor is added. Jackson is doing fantastic and will be on the swim team in no time.

Riley is obsessed with taking her babies everywhere we go in wagons, strollers, baskets...

and Jackson wakes up like this, ready to start the day! He loves to make us laugh.

Her giggles are pretty contagious.

We painted some cards today using hot wheels. At dinner they agreed that this was the best part of the day. I think they forgot about lunch at the taco shop. They love to share a plate of rolled tacos with guacamole and cheese. I'm always in the mood for hot carrots so I happily oblige.

All week we've kept the mornings the same by going to my Barre3 classes.

Ummmm I think we need a little brother. The kids ADORE "Baby Darwin."

But it sure is nice not to have to take Jackson to school and turn around to pick up...

Riley is taking her three plus hour naps since we don't have to "go get Bubba from skool."

The beach is always enjoyed by these two.

A "hole" lot of fun in Del Mar. This kept them entertained for over an hour.

Hope your spring break has been sunny, entertaining, and relaxing!

Open House

Yesterday we had our first Open House. It went well according to our real estate agent...50 people walked through and he saw several number crunching. No rush for an offer, though! We still haven't found anything to move to...

We spent the afternoon at the SD Botanic Gardens in Encinitas after some lunch and drive bys of potential homes (no luck). Of course the one home we were going to ask to view started escrow today.

It was a beautiful day at the gardens! They added new parts/redid sections to the kid area: Seeds of Wonder.

Jackson and Riley had so much fun that they both slept on the ride home. I'd say that was a successful Open House!

We are moving!

...and we don't know where! We love our home. It has given us so many happy memories over the last three years. We have talked about selling for a year now...and recently decided to take the plunge and list it. It's for sale officially tomorrow!

We are excited and sad all at the same time. The hardest part about deciding to sell? Telling our amazing neighbors. It feels like an extended family on our street. During the summers it's a weekly block party. Last Christmas we all hung extra lights to make our street so pretty. When I hurt my hand when Riley was four months old, everyone on Wild Meadow leant a helping hand. And knowing that Jackson and Riley won't grow up across the street from Max and Hana weighs on my heart. Hana and Riley are only nine days apart.

But, we have longed to live closer to the beach. Sierra grew up at the beach. The kids LOVE it. And with Jackson preparing for Kindergarten this Fall, now is a good time for us to sell.

Now buying is a different story. There isn't a lot out there in the coastal areas of San Diego we are looking at that meet our extensive criteria. So we might have to move back to our old house (occupied by our tenant) until we can find our new dream home. Wish we could move Wild Meadow closer to the beach and bring our neighbors, too!
Today when I saw the for sale sign in the front yard I had mixed emotions but ultimately decided those feelings were excitement.
