Disney in a Day!

Walking down Main Street

We promised the kids that after their patience with open houses, countless showings, and Mama getting upset if a toy was left out or a pillow not fluffed while selling our home, we would go to Disneyland. Selling our house late Spring-Summer meant we couldn't plan a summer vacation. Then we knew after moving and unpacking, plus being in my third trimester...no real vacation. The kids were so excited when Sierra told them our plans Sunday during dinner...that in the morning we were off to The Happiest Place on Earth!

Jackson kept doing this same pose with his thumbs up.
I was a little worried that if we told the kids too soon and had to cancel because I wasn't feeling well, it would be a huge letdown. Last week I was having real contractions as well as the typical Braxton Hicks that I've had with each pregnancy beginning in the sixth month. As I'm approaching 36 weeks, I was a little nervous. Alas, some rest helped! Then there's my ankle and foot that looks horrific. I might scare some people not even on Halloween...the varicose veins that I had with Riley returned times 10...they're in my left leg and foot. They swell during the day and look like they hurt more than they do--they feel uncomfortable. The OBGYNs keep saying they will go away (but spider veins might remain) once Baby Brother is not putting pressure on my pelvis but who knows?! I try to elevate that leg as much as I can with two kids to chase around all day. I digress. Back to Disney!

Riley waiting for her first ride--the rockets.

Living closer to the 5 freeway has its advantages--we were at Mickey's House in less than 90 minutes! The park opened at 8 a.m. and we were inside by 9 a.m. and by 10 a.m. Jackson and Sierra had been on several rides! It wasn't crowded at all. This was Jackson's third time to D-land, and Riley's second. Jackson for the first time could ride a majority of the rides--all but Autopia (alone) and Indiana Jones. He had a BLAST. Riley, who is really into Disney princesses and dressing up in her costumes, was thrilled to see the Disney princesses in real life and go on the rides that she and her prego mama could ride.

Jackson drove!

Sierra's cousin Eleanor and her twins, Zoey and Ella, joined us in our Disney Day. They have season passes and the girls are 6 months younger than Riley. They live in Oxnard so we don't see them that often. The little girls and their moms had so much fun hanging out while the boys went on the big rides. Jackson said Star Tours was his favorite and they did that ride twice. Around 3 p.m. the crowds began because that night was a special Trick or Treat party and people were there for that in costumes. The regular guests (us) needed to leave by 6 p.m. but that was just fine with us! We were all tired by that point and my foot was looking gross as usual. Ha.

Ella and Zoey napped. Riley and Jackson did not.
Where to next?

We all loved the parade!

We stopped for a Subway dinner (so fancy) and had the kids in bed by 8:30 p.m. We couldn't believe they didn't fall asleep on the way home! We even had them change to their pajamas just in case. I think the day was so fun for them that they were thinking about it on the drive home...and stayed awake. I thought for sure they would sleep in the next morning...nope. We had a little crankiness all day from both instead. But, it was worth the day at Disneyland! We created some fun family memories and spent time with Eleanor and the twins, which we don't get to do too often. It was a super fun day and luckily Baby Bro stayed comfy in his womb because Jackson kept urging him to join the fun so he could be born at the "Disney Hospital." So happy we were able to take this magical trip before we become a family of five!
